Bom+Hi--Not Really What I Want for Christmas

Two days ago the new YG duo, Bom+Hi, released their music video for their cover of "All I Want for Christmas is You." Well, after hearing and watching the music video, I only have one thing to say--I don't want them. 

Honestly, I'm a YG fan so I was expecting a lot from this collaboration, but was instead given a disappointing collaboreation. Park Bom, a seasoned artist--already singing about belonging with Big Bang even before 2NE1 debuted, but came out with the short end of the stick. The artist was eating her words like they were corn and I could hardly make out what she was saying--surprising since she used to live and study in the US.

If these two artist were in a boxing ring together, Bom was completely owned by Lee Hi, a good 12 years her junior. The 17 year old can really rip it. However, per usual Lee Hi standards, girl barely had any expressions on her face, save from that one maniacal grin she had while playing with that ax. 

Yes, I can smile. But only when I have an ax on my hand...

And did I mention the lip-syncing was completely off? And on some angles I was torn on whether Park Bom looked like a doll--or just stiffly plastic surgery-ed. Shame Minzy caught the PS bug from Bom.

Overall, I guess the music video was interesting to look at--the pure white set had a dark undertone to it. Kudos to YG for his artistic music videos--I mean CL naked? Can't get any more artistic than that.

But seriously, what the hell is that "white stuff" dripping from the door?

Top Reasons to Love ADD-fest Adventure Time

Ever heard of Adventure Time? If you haven't, then woah dude, you need a little bit more of random in your life. 

Adventure Time! This is probably the most random cartoon out there. If you're doubting me, then I dare you to watch season 4's King Worm and say otherwise! 

Basically, Adventure Time = ADD. 

If the world of cartoons belonged to the same family, then Adventure Time is basically the younger brother with a bad case of ADD.


Factors that contributes to Adventure Time's awesomeness:

10. The Land of Ooo and its many kingdoms (along with the respective mandatory princess monarch) I mean seriously, whoever heard of a Candy Kingdom populated by living, breathing candy? It just brings candy-ballism to whole new heights.

9. Fiona and cake. That one spin-off episode remains as one of my favorites. Why was Fionna drawn older than Finn though? Meh it would've probably looked weird to see a 13 year old Fionna go on a pedo madness date with an 18 year old Gumball.

Fiona is probably the "meatiest" female AT character I've seen. Many thanks to Rule 63!

8. Art style. Although other people dislike it, the simplistic art style of this cartoon is what drew me. It may seem like not much effort is done in drawing it but the beady dot eyes of each character just doubles the endearing factor the show has to offer.

7. Mathematical. Rhombus. Algebraic. Finn uses math terms as his catch phrase and even uses them as censors for curse words. Although I'm not sure how well his math proficiency actually is, I just find the math lingo funny.

6. The dark undertone. A land of magic such as Oo, is actually the result of a massive nuclear explosion during the "mushroom war." And Finn (now a rare human specie) was left on a mountain as a baby and was found and adopted by a dog couple. Being one of the few humans left, there is a huge possibility that he is related to Susan--a human with a mental instability. Yep. Definitely my kind of cartoon.

Can a kids cartoon get any darker?

5. "Daddy, why did you eat my fries?" --oh yes, the songs. Who wouldn't love their quirky and addictive tunes? My favorite song being "my dad ate my fries" I even misheard fries with friends--which honestly makes more sense. The addictive song was as mathematical as the entire episode itself which explored the complexities of Marceline and her fathers relationship. Which brings me to,

THESE FEELS.

4. The characters. Each character is individually unique and relate-able in their own way. Even the supposedly "baddie", Ice King, started out as this annoying character. But as soon as he was given his backstory, ofhowheusedtobeengagedbutthenwentcrazysohisfiancelefthim, I felt for the guy. And that's what separates AT from any other kids show--it makes me, not part of the intended audience, feel for the show. 

3. "Dude, I think I have a crush." Oh don't you just love the obsessive nature of fans, creators and characters themselves (Jake) on Finn's love life. He's a growing boy and he just wants to like someone. I don't particularly give a damn on who he's paired with (FP, PB or even LSP) but it's hella entertaining seeing him worry about the complexity of his love life every few episodes.

2. Continuity nod.  The waving snail, Finns' fear of the sea, how he calls the Ice King by his human name, "Simon"-- are all prime examples of the shows continuity nod. With these small but noticeable instances, AT is able to separate itself from another run of the mill kids show. Although most people think that AT is just one ADD episode after the other, there's actually some good solid plot in it. Yes, it isn't actually explored in every episode, but when it is... trust me--it'll be a doozy.

1. "Come on darling, wrap your legs around me." 

"Wattt? Did i just hear that correctly? And from a childrens cartoon, no less?"
And did I just place a QUOTE as my top reason? YES. Since that line was able to solidify Adventure Time as one of my favorite shows. Yep. It's those epic one liners the creators are able to sneakily get past the radar. And I'm not just talking about those slightly "adult" quips but everything. It's the random and quirky comedic undertone of each episode that just gets to me every single time. 

Katy Perry is Changing My Life--and How I Speak

Yes, the super mega pop star is not only changing my taste in music--but my life as well. Through the years Katy Perry has been gradually influencing my life and how I lead it. 


First she taught me how to kiss a girl.

How to live in Vegas. 

And how to party hard on a Friday night. 

Now, she's teaching and touching me in different ways--phonetically to be exact.

When I first heard the song I thought, "Na-na. This sounds completely awkward! Who says uncondiTIONally, anyway? Way to go screwing with pronunciation, Katy." 

Little did I know, I was in for a rude awakening. As awkward as her singing was, a hook is a hook. And Katy Perry is a seasoned master of the craft of hooking people into her songs. So after a few more listens, I was converted into her phonetic ideal and have seen the error of my ways. 

See, I knew those experts at the Society of Proper Stress and Intonation Academy were wrong. It's Uncondi-TION-ally not Uncon-DI-tionally. Right, Hermione?

"It's uncondi-TION-ally. Not uncon-DI-tionally."

So thank you Katy Perry because now I finally see the light to the proper phonetic tunnel.

When Boredom Strikes Lightning

Are you bored right now? You probably are and that's the reason you came across my blog. Whether you're a blogger surfing through blogs or an actual bored-o only looking for a way to kill time, welcome!

Some of the more conventional ways of dealing with a boring afternoon is probably sleeping, watching a movie, eating, playing a game or reading a book. But after repetitively doing all those anti-boredom acts, it gets boring as well. What do you do then?

Well, it happens to me most of the time. This is probably an attestment to how much free time I have, and how sad my life really is... Buuut that's for a self reilazation post--I'll get to it eventually. So here is a short list of the shiznits I do whenever I'm bored.

1. I write. OBVIOUSLY. Yep, that's right. I'm currently bored right now. So bored that I've resorted to writing. Writing will always be an outlet, like how music is to some or tissue and lotion for others (if you know what i mean)

2. I eat. Now this only happens if I'm really REALLY bored. But then again that usually happens a lot... which means I also eat a lot. :(

3. I Zumba. Oyea. So basically, after I eat, I wait for an hour and begin my Zumba session. Since Zumba is an exercise dance routine, it's fun and probably the easiest form of exercise for me.

4. I troll. I'm not a major expert troller. I just troll at home and on my two usually unsuspecting sisters. I usually stick to simple ones, without the need for props but boy does it still work. Although I feel guilty, there's also a sense of pride I feel whenever I make my sister cry. Does that make me a horrible person?

5. I draw. Being an Architectural student, I draw practically 24-7, either manually or digitally. I draw at school, I draw at home, I draw in my sleep (or lack thereof) But my drawings aren't limited to buildings or structure--nope. Because I draw cutie little chibibis too.

6. I play. Doesn't matter what kind of playing it is--I do it. Whether its Bard's Tale on tablet, or Dragon Nest on my laptop, I enjoy a good decent game that will make my hours seem like mere minutes.

And lastly...

7. I think. --Of different ways to practice my chopstick skills.

Hmm... instead of bored I'm probably just weird.

Cinderella Park of 2NE1

Although I hardly admit it to anyone I know, I am a self confessed Kpop fan. And I've been proudly spazzing on Kpop artists since '09. The first video that got me hooked on the wave was Big Bang and 2NE1's Lollipop.

First reaction when I saw the vid?

"oh mah gerd. it's sandara parks face. EW."

Sandara "Sandy" Park, collectively known as Krung-Krung (which basically means crazy) is VERY well known to Filipinos. And being a Filipino myself, I was very much used to seeing her face along with her overly used catch phrase "mahal ko kayo" (I love you all), while she waved her hand princess style. She was srsly jologs that time (or jejemon for use of a more updated term) which both loosely translates to tacky, lame or just please-dont.

Jologs? What's this jologs? I cannot comprehend!

Well! Fortunately for us, the most accurate dictionary in the living world, urbandictionary.com, can enlighten us.

But since a picture paints a thousand words, I'll make it easier for you and show you a picture of the very core and essence of jologs... Jolina herself.

Yes. I know what you're thinking..

And Dara Park of 2NE1, was just that. 

It's like she was the second coming. 

Perhaps a probable root of this, is from her well-known quirky personality. After joining a Reality Artist show and bagging 1st runner up, the girl shot up to fame in a snap. Faster than you can say bigbangalivetourisonoct25atsmarenasoexcitedwee. The Filipino people just loved her weird personality and odd humor. Movie stints, acting stints, singing stints--everything and ANYTHING was offered to her. She was practically everywhere with her movies, TV shows, endorsements, name it. But sadly her fame faded away as quickly as it came. 

After short while in the Philippine showbiz industry, she went to Korea for her studies at the peak of her career only to come back with her popularity fizzled out. Lady Park wasn't the "It Girl" anymore. She just wasn't as relevant. Sob story, yes. But guuuuurl came back in '09 with a vengeance.

Our little jologs blossomed into a sophisticated swan! In no way am I hating, I mean I've practically forgotten her tacky stint her in the Philippines--well, almost. 

Am I in or out?

It's just impossible to forget this horrendous song and its equally horrendous mv.

It's a genuine Cinderella story for this one. From that (see below) to VAVAVOOM hello there smexy-laydeh. She's really come so far and I'm happy for her. She was able to shed her old (incredible annoying image) and get away with a complete fierce-sexy-yet-still-sort-of-weird one.
